Katy Rubin
Katy Rubin ist eine in Großbritannien ansässige Praktikerin des Legislativen Theaters, die sich für eine partizipative Demokratie einsetzt die Freude macht, gerecht ist und alle einbezieht. Derzeit arbeitet sie mit Gemeindeorganisationen, lokalen Räten und nationalen Regierungen zusammen, um Politik und Praxis in den Bereichen Wohnen und Obdachlosigkeit, Klimawandel, Stadtplanung, Gesundheitsversorgung, kulturelle Gleichberechtigung und mehr neu zu gestalten.
Ihre Arbeit mit der Greater Manchester Combined Authority wurde 2022 mit dem Award for Best Practice in Citizen Participation des International Observatory on Participatory Democracy ausgezeichnet.
Ursprünglich aus New York City stammend, war sie von 2011-2018 Gründungs-direktorin des Theatre of the Oppressed NYC und wurde 2008 von Augusto Boal am „Center for Theatre of the Oppressed – Rio de Janeiro“ ausgebildet.

Katy Rubin is a Legislative Theatre practitioner based in the UK, working towards a participatory democracy that’s joyful, equitable and inclusive. She’s currently collaborating with community organizations, local councils, and national governments to re-imagine policy and practice on housing and homelessness, climate change, city planning, health care, cultural equity and more;
Her work with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority won International Observatory on Participatory Democracy’s 2022 Award for Best Practice in Citizen Participation. Originally from New York City, she served as founding director of Theatre of the Oppressed NYC from 2011 to 2018 and trained with Augusto Boal at Centre for Theatre of the Oppressed – Rio de Janeiro in 2008.

InterACT
InterACT, die Werkstatt für Theater und Soziokultur, ist eine seit 1999 bestehende professionelle Theater- und Kulturinitiative, die Theater und szenisches Spiel für eine Kultur des Dialogs und des Zusammenlebens, für Empowerment und Partizipation sowie für persönliche und soziale Veränderungsprozesse nutzbar macht. Dabei kommen in erster Linie interaktive und partizipative Theaterformen wie das „Forumtheater“ oder das „Playbacktheater“ zur Anwendung.
Seit 2002 spielt das Legislative Theater bei InterACT eine besondere Rolle:
Projekte wie „wohnungs/LOS/theatern“, „Kein Kies zum Kurven Kratzen – Neuer Armut entgegenwirken“, „ZusammenSpiel“, „The Human Right to Work“, „Stopp: Jetzt reden wir!“, „GrünRäume und GrauZonen“, „Reich an Leben“, „WARE WOHNEN MENSCHENRECHT“ oder „MEHR.WERT“ fanden ihren Weg in kommunale, regionale und/oder nationale Politikfelder und führten zu unterschiedlichen politischen Initiativen und Veränderungen.
InterACT, the studio for theatre and socioculture, is a professional theatre and cultural initiative that has been in existence since 1999 and uses theatre and scenic play for a culture of dialogue and coexistence, for empowerment and participation as well as for personal and social change processes. It primarily uses interactive and participatory theatre forms such as “Forum Theatre” and “Playback Theatre”.
Legislative Theatre has played a special role at InterACT since 2002:
projects such as “wohnungs/LOS/theatern”, “Kein Kies zum Kurven Kratzen – Neuer Armut entgegenwirken”, “ZusammenSpiel”, “The Human Right to Work”, “Stopp: Jetzt reden wir!”, “GrünRäume und GrauZonen”, “Reich an Leben”, “WARE WOHNEN MENSCHENRECHT” or “MEHR.WERT” found their way into municipal, regional and/or national policy fields and led to various political initiatives and changes.
